Welcome to the Good Egg Guide to in-car child safety, which is solely dedicated to reducing casualties and improving safety for children in cars.

Improving road safety, particularly amongst children, is one of the areas that is high on the agenda of Local Authorities. Over the last few years, progress has been made - but we must not be complacent! The aim of this campaign is simple – to heighten awareness of children’s safety in cars and hopefully reduce the number of children’s casualties as a result of road accidents.

If properly restrained, when travelling by car, a child is 90% less likely to be killed in an accident. Recent research, however, has highlighted that many child seats are incorrectly fitted and too many children are not restrained at all. In a crash, these unrestrained children could injure or kill not only themselves but also other people in the car.

This website offers a range of hints and tips including advice about child car seats as well as information on the law regarding restraints for children in vehicles.

Remember, half of all crashes involving children happen on short trips to places like the shops or school.

It could happen to any of us, so please make sure you keep your child safe.
